Is your baby’s high chair dirty? Ensuring a clean high chair can protect your baby from infections etc. so here’s a few tips to make sure it’s clean and dust-free at all times.
A high chair is a must for babies and is found in almost every restaurant to accommodate young guests. As babies drop a lot of food while eating a High chair is prone to getting dirty very easily. Also if you visit a lot of restaurants, cleaning and maintaining a high chair can prove to be cumbersome.
However today we have some simple tips that you can use that will help in cleaning a high chair and make the process a lot simpler.
1st Step: Cleaning with a Detergent or a multi-surface cleaner
Use a mild soap or multi-surface cleaner with the help of a sponge and apply it on the surface, especially straps as they are the dirtiest part of the High chair. Let the detergent stay on the chair’s surface for a while and if there is a lot of grease at the chair try to rub it with a soft brush and hot water. If the oil doesn’t come out, it should be washed again with hot water.
The second most important part is the chairs handle which kids hold with their dirty hand. Sometimes a kid may spill a drink which can run all the way down through the entire length of a High chair. If that happens immediately wipe the handle with a wet cloth.
2nd Step: Making the chair Bacteria Free
Once cleaned by detergent the next step should be making the chair bacteria free. Kids are prone to dropping food on the high chair which can accumulate a lot of bacteria. You might clean the chair for food particles and grease, but until a chair is made bacteria free, it’s of no use.
For making the chair bacteria free, a disinfectant is required which should be approved by a clinical organization. After cleaning the chair with detergent let it sun dry, mix an adequate amount of disinfectant and wipe the chair using a tissue towel. Reach for the area that is not in contact with babies as they may be home to a lot of bacteria as well. After using the disinfectant clean the chair with a soft cloth or tissue and make sure the chair is completely dry before letting it for use.
3rd Step: Sanitizing
This remains the most important and final step of cleaning the high chair. The whole process of cleaning the high chair involves the use of chemicals which are normally industrial grade, and if they come in contact with a baby, it can prove fatal as the baby might unknowingly swallow detergent or disinfectant causing serious health issues.
After cleaning the chair with a disinfectant make sure that the chair becomes completely dry before using a sanitizer. To start, spray a sanitizing solution especially on the handles as it is the most touching part. Also, make sure to sanitize straps too as they may soak a liquid detergent and a baby can reach it easily.
Spray the solution at the entire length of the chair as there could be a lot of bacteria on the legs back and sideways, and a parent might touch the leftover detergent there and can be fatal for them too.
After sanitizing the entire chair let it dry for a while and then cover it with a tissue towel to keep it safe from pollen and airborne dust particles
