Breast milk is considered the best nutrition for a child, and it should be fed to the baby until the baby is ready to accept other food than milk. Storing breast milk is a concern for parents where the mother goes out working and cannot feed the baby with milk whenever the baby is hungry.
To let the child drink breast milk a lot of mothers keep it stored in different ways according to the time of their consumption.
Baby milk can be stored in a variety of way, but you need to be sure that you are keeping it preserved in a way that it stays fresh and has all the nutrients inside for baby’s consumption.
Storing breast milk is entirely dependent on the time you choose to use it for feeding. Breast milk can be stored in plastic or a glass bottle, but you would have to make sure that it’s free of a B.P.A which is a synthetic compound used in plastic manufacturing.
While it is advised to feed the baby with only fresh breast milk you can still use refrigerated breast milk to feed the baby.
While storing breast milk in a refrigerator make sure that the temperature is set to be at 4 degrees and storing the milk at this temperature can keep it fresh for about a week, and it should be used well within a week of refrigeration.
At room temperature, breast milk can easily stay fresh for five to six hours, and the temperature of the room should not be more than 25 degrees. In an ice box, breast milk can be kept fresh for a day.
Though it is not preferred to freeze breast milk if you choose to do so make sure that your home deep freezer is set to a temperature of -18 degrees and storing breast milk at such temperature can keep it fresh for almost six months.
The most important factor in storing breast milk is the container in which they are stored. There are special containers available in supermarkets which are designed only for storing breast milk and are made free of harmful and toxic industrial grade plastic, they use virgin plastic to manufacture such container, and they are sanitized to a level that there is no bacteria growth inside the container.
The glass, on the other hand, is another good way of storing breast milk as it is free of any harmful chemical being used in its construction.
Breast milk can be stored in different ways we have shared with you but make sure that you only store breast milk when it’s not possible for the baby to be fed with fresh breast milk anyhow.
Also keep in mind that if the milk has curdled it should be immediately disposed and the container should be washed for a couple of times, the bottle then should be dried thoroughly and should be sanitized after that doing this would make sure that there would be no bacterial growth inside.
While traveling on an airplane you can carry breast milk in a clear plastic bottle inside the airplane and make sure that this bottle is not kept under the X-Ray scanner as it can make the breast milk unsuitable for baby’s consumption
